Inside spring training camp:

Leyland feels Ordonez' pain: Magglio Ordonez is being booed at the World Baseball Classic by his Venezuelan countrymen voicing their displeasure over his friendship with controversial Venezuela President Hugo Chavez. Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland watched his right fielder endure their ridicule during Monday night's televised Venezuela win against Puerto Rico and was asked how it made him feel. "Bad," Leyland said. "I don't like to see anyone go through that kind of stuff. I might give him a call today to see how he's doing."

Tigers struggle for Venezuela: All three Tigers in Venezuela's starting lineup have had subpar performances. Carlos Guillen had a clutch RBI single against Puerto Rico but is hitting .190 with two home runs and four RBIs at designated hitter and is not playing left field as he wanted. First baseman Miguel Cabrera is batting .261 with a pair of solo homers. "I can tell by watching them that they need some work," Leyland said. Tigers starting pitcher Armando Galarraga has a 4.50 ERA in one four-inning start and is scheduled to start tonight for Venezuela.
