Detroit (42-40) rallied for a 5-4 victory on Monday, as Curtis Granderson's go-ahead RBI single capped a two-run eighth.

The Tigers trailed 4-1 after six innings before scoring twice in each the seventh and eighth for their fifth comeback during their current streak.

"These come-from-behind wins really get us going," Detroit reliever Casey Fossum said. "We know at any point this offense can unleash some runs."

The Tigers collected 12 hits Monday, and are batting .375 with 34 runs during their six-game streak.

Granderson has been the catalyst for Detroit's offense. He had three hits Monday, and is 15-for-25 (.600) with three RBIs and nine runs scored during the winning streak. He has raised his batting average from .265 to .301 in that span.

The Tigers, who also won six in a row June 10-15, have won 18 of 23 to pull within five games of the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox after being nine games out of first on June 5.

First baseman Miguel Cabrera left Monday's game with a tight left hip flexor and is listed as day-to-day.

Detroit has had plenty of success behind Nate Robertson (6-6, 5.23 ERA) lately, and it hopes that trend continues when he takes the ball Tuesday.

The Tigers have won six of Robertson's last seven starts after winning two of his first nine.

Robertson yielded an unearned run in 6 1-3 innings in Thursday's 3-2, 10-inning win over St. Louis, but also allowed a season-high 11 hits. The left-hander is 3-0 with a 2.92 ERA in his last four starts, and has won five of his last six decisions.

Robertson hasn't been very sharp on the road lately, going 2-2 with a 6.85 ERA in his last four away from Detroit. He has, however, pitched well at the Metrodome recently, winning two of his last three starts there while compiling a 1.29 ERA.

Robertson is 1-0 with a 4.97 ERA in two starts against the Twins this season after posting a 1.93 ERA in four games versus them in 2007.

The Twins (45-38) lost for the second time in three games Monday following a season-high 10-game winning streak. They dropped 2 1/2 games behind the White Sox.

Despite the series-opening loss, Joe Mauer continued to pound Detroit pitching.

Mauer, who leads the AL with a .323 batting average, went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and is batting .517 (15-for-29) with four doubles and nine RBIs in his last eight games versus the Tigers.

Scott Baker (4-2, 3.57) takes the mound for the Twins, looking to win three consecutive starts for the first time in his career.

Baker allowed three runs and six hits in six innings of a 4-3 victory at San Diego on Thursday. He is 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA in five home outings this season.

Since coming off the disabled list with a strained right groin on June 5, the right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA in five starts.

Baker injured his groin against the Tigers on May 3, leaving after three scoreless innings. In two starts versus Detroit this season, he has yielded three runs in 10 innings, but did not factor in the decision in either outing. He is 2-3 with a 3.42 ERA in nine career starts against the Tigers.
