NEW YORK (AP) - The Detroit Tigers reinstated reliever Francisco Cruceta from the restricted list before Thursday night's game against the New York Yankees.
The right-hander was brought up from Triple-A Toledo, where he was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 15 strikeouts in seven innings spanning three games.Cruceta, from the Dominican Republic, had trouble getting his work visa this spring. He was assigned to Toledo on April 22. He takes the roster spot of right-hander Jason Grilli, traded by Detroit to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday for minor league pitcher Zachary Simons.
Cruceta could provide a boost for a Tigers bullpen missing key relievers Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney because of shoulder injuries.
