Tigers' Polanco leaves game after leg injury
DETROIT (AP) - Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco left Friday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the first inning after spraining his ankle sliding into home.

Polanco scored from first on Magglio Ordonez's two-run double. He rolled over and writhed in pain after sliding across the plate and beating the tag of catcher Dioner Navarro.

Polanco was tended to by trainer Kevin Rand, but got up and walked off the field on his own with a slight limp. The team said X-rays on the left ankle were negative and Polanco would be reevaluated Saturday.

Polanco is hitting .307 with eight home runs and 58 RBIs.
