The Lady Hounds (2-3, 2-1 MPC) jumped in front 3-0 after one inning thanks in part to Rachel Shumway's 2-run triple ... Laura Dell also hit a triple, Brooke Varner stroked 3 hits and Shumway, Dell and Katie Dell each had 2 hits ... Ship coach Mike Peters said, "We started out strong and really attacked the ball in the first inning. It helps a lot to get a lead early. Katie threw a solid game and made key pitches when she had to." ... Carson (2-1) allowed 3 hits in the complete-game win.
