Justin Verlander threw six strong innings, Michael Hollimon hit his first big league home run and the Detroit Tigers hung on to beat the Seattle Mariners 8-4 Thursday night. 

It appears the Detroit Tigers just needed to face the Seattle Mariners to rebound from a pair of losses. 

All through the minor leagues, Matt Joyce and Michael Hollimon could only dream of games like they had Thursday.
