1889: An estimated crowd of 400 at Seattle's Baseball park watched the first "football" game in University of Washington history, a 20-0 loss to the "Eastern Alumni," a collection of graduates from Yale, Harvard, Brown and Princeton. 1912: The UW defeated Washington State 19-0 in front of 7,000 fans at Denny Field. Head coach Gil Dobie completed another perfect season (6-0-0) as his Purple and Gold outscored opponents 190-17.
1988: Mariners pitcher Mike Moore decided to bolt the ballclub to accept a three-year contract worth nearly $4 million from the Oakland Athletics . The Mariners had proposed a three-year deal worth $1.1 million in 1989, $1.2 million in '90 and $1.3 million in '91. The M's had the option of a fourth year at $1.3 million or a $250,000 buyout clause for a total package of $3.85 million.
1994: The University of Colorado bypassed assistant head coach Bob Simmons and named assistant Rick Neuheisel as its new head football coach.
2003: With James Hasty breaking a 72-yard TD run, Bellevue advanced to the Class 3A state title game by defeating Issaquah 21-0 at the Tacoma Dome. In the other semifinal, O'Dea routed Kennedy 31-3.
2003: Brent Barry scored 20 points, but the Sonics fell in Utah for the seventh consecutive time 98-81. The Sonics played without leading scorer Rashard Lewis, who was in Houston attending his brother's funeral.
2003: Andrea Lalum scored 25 points and Giuliana Mendiola added 22 as the Huskies routed Gonzaga 70-56 in the first round of the Husky Classic at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
