RHP Joel Zumaya (right shoulder AC joint surgery) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. He threw off a mound May 1 for the first time since the surgery. He is scheduled for another bullpen session May 3, but there still was no timetable for his return.

C Vance Wilson (Tommy John surgery in June 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. In late April, he was struggling with plantar fasciitis, which was slowing his potential return.

RHP Fernando Rodney (right shoulder tendinitis) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. He threw a six-minute bullpen session May 1, his first since a visit with Dr. James Andrews on April 16 determined there was nothing major wrong with his arm. Rodney will throw again on May 3 or May 4, depending on how he feels.
