BRIEF: Granderson to play for U.S. in World Baseball Classic
Jan. 9--Tiger centerfielder Curtis Granderson accepted an offer to represent the United State's in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to several reports.

The announcement came Thursday afternoon, almost exactly two months before the U.S. team's first scheduled game -- March 7 against Canada.

Granderson joins division rival Grady Sizemore (Cleveland) as a centerfielder on the U.S. squad.

"It means a lot to me," Granderson told MLB.com. "We are talking about representing my country. It is an honor to be considered among the best in our nation, and to be able to represent my country on the field in an amazing event. We are trying to make the game of Baseball a more globalized game, and it is humbling to be a part of that process."

Other Tigers slated to play are Carlos Guillen, Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera (Venezuela).
